If you’re going to describe the musical number “Be Our Guest” in Disney’s live adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, boring would certainly not be the adjective associated with such a colorfully magnificent moment. There scene has dancing plates, singing candelabras, and Emma Watson at the center of it all. What on earth could be boring about it?
Well, if you’re Watson, apparently all of it—and for good reason. According to director Bill Condon, “Be Our Guest” was the “big challenge of the movie” to make. The entire scene—except for Emma, of course—consisted of CGI. That means for days on end “it was literally me sitting an empty table…just looking at nothing,” the actress explains in this exclusive clip (see below). “It was the most boring scene I have ever had.”
Still not convinced? Here’s a video about the making of the scene:
Crazy, right? Makes you appreciate the incredible job Emma had to do that much more.
When the DVD comes out June 6, not only will you be able to re-watch that scene, but there’s more than 10 minutes of deleted scenes, a feature on the amazing women behind the enchanted tale, and the Beauty and the Beast music video starring Ariana Grande and John Legend. The live-action adaptation will be available on Digital HD, Blu-ray, Disney Movies Anywhere, DVD, and On-Demand.
