The highly-anticipated Dirty Dancing remake premieres tonight (May 24) at 8 P.M. on ABC. Of course, nothing can hold a candle to the 1987 original starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze, but this remake is actually pretty enjoyable. Granted, it’s over two hours—which is long for any movie nowadays, let alone a Dirty Dancing reboot—but Abigail Breslin and company properly deliver the cheesy nostalgia feels that fans are craving. Nicole Scherzinger is in it. There’s one scene where everyone plays with random, creepy wigs. It’s a good time. You owe it to your inner-child to at least have this on in the background as you stalk your friend’s boyfriend’s cousin on Instagram. (This movie doesn’t require your total focus, anyway. Girl meets boy at camp. Boy teaches girl to dance. Girl and boy fall in love. Girl and boy dance together to the cheesiest song on the planet. It’s elementary!)
Obviously, you can watch Dirty Dancing on television tonight—but if you don’t have cable, you can still tune in. ABC.com will live stream the film, which you can access if your bougie friend lets you borrow her cable log-in. If that doesn’t work, YouTube TV, Hulu Live, and Sling TV are all streaming it, too. (We’re not encouraging you to sign up for a free trial with one of those platforms and then cancel it three days from now, but we’re not not encouraging you.)
Also, if you want to refresh your memory by watching the original Dirty Dancing, it’s available to rent on Amazon Video, Google Play, and YouTube for $1.99. Life just isn’t worth living if you can’t watch Abigail Breslin dance on a log in the middle of the woods, right?
